Shouldn’t they call it a debt target instead of a debt ceiling?
Is this whole thing a farce?
Doug Casey: The situation is completely and irredeemably out of control. It’s a farce. Quite laughable, except for the fact it’s so deadly serious.
Can they reduce the debt ceiling or the amount of debt? Or even slow down its growth at this point? No.
The situation is beyond redemption because most US government expenditures go to pay entitlements—Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, and numerous other types of welfare.

India joins Russia’s SPFS banking payments system – another death blow to the dollar and Western money dominance
(Natural News) We have received word that India, the second most populous country in the world, has signed a deal with Russia to adopt its SPFS system for making banking payments to the country.
The Narendra Modi government reportedly agreed to adopt the Russian financial messaging system, known as the Service Bureau of the Financing Messaging System of the Bank of Russia, in order to make payments to the country for trade purposes.
The landmark agreement was signed by Indian external affairs minister S. Jaishankar and visiting Russian deputy prime minister Denis Mantu

Deposits at JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America and Wells Fargo Shrank by $465 Billion Y-O-Y; More than Twice the Total of 4,000 Small Banks
Since the banking crisis began making headlines at expensive media real estate, the narrative has been that deposits are fleeing the small commercial banks and flooding into the biggest banks that are perceived as too-big-to-fail and thus offer a safer venue for deposits.
Because these mega banks are the same ones that the Fed has been bailing out since the financial crisis of 2008, that narrative requires believing that our fellow Americans are dumber than a stump.
We decided to check out that narrative for ourselves. Not only is that scenario wrong, but it is so decidedly wrong, and it’s so easy to get the accurate figures, that from where we sit it looks like there might have been an agenda by someone to harm smaller banks. (Since it’s short sellers who have benefited to the tune of more than $7 billion from this misinformation, the Securities and Exchange Commission should find out who the public relations firms are who placed this erroneous information, and who paid them.)

Biden accuser Tara Reade posts cryptic message about death before potentially testifying to Congress
Tara Reade, who has accused President Biden of sexually assaulting her in the 1990s, tweeted a cryptic message about death before she potentially testifies to Congress following an invitation from Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz.
“I want to make something clear. If something happens to me, all roads lead to Joe Biden,” Reade wrote Sunday afternoon. “Joe Biden and DNC political machine threats, bullying and intimidation over the last three years will not work.”
“I am not suicidal,” she added.
The message includes a promise to testify before Congress, to address “what happened and what” she knows.

The Big Government-Big Bank Plot To Exploit Us
Even the New York Times report about the sale recognized that the normal rules had been suspended when the interests of the big government-big bank cabal were at stake: “Lawmakers and regulators have spent years erecting laws and rules meant to limit the power and size of the largest U.S. banks. But those efforts were cast aside in a frantic late-night effort by government officials to contain a banking crisis by seizing and selling First Republic Bank to the country’s biggest bank, JPMorgan Chase.
At about 1 a.m. Monday, hours after the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation had been expected to announce a buyer for the troubled regional lender, government officials informed JPMorgan executives that they had won the right to take over First Republic and the accounts of its well-heeled customers, most of them in wealthy coastal cities and suburbs.

California Defaults On $18.6 Billion In Debt, Saddling Employers With The Expense
“The state should have taken care of the loans with the COVID money it received from the government in 2021,” said Marc Joffe, policy analyst at the Cato Institute—a public policy think tank headquartered in Washington, D.C., in a statement to the Epoch Times.
In the state’s proposed 2023-2024 budget, $750 million was allocated to start paying down the loans, until Governor Gavin Newsom nixed the provision in early January, leaving businesses in the state responsible for the loans, as mandated by federal regulations – so that the federal unemployment tax rate of .6 percent will increase by .3% per year starting in 2023 until the loan is extinguished.
“California is just not really an employer-friendly state,” said Joffe. “This one thing will not be a difference between a business remaining open or closing, but it’s just another burden on top of the many burdens the state puts on employers.”

Did Intel-Linked Dataminr Play Sinister Role In Hunter Biden Laptop Suppression?
On April 20, former acting CIA Director Michael Morell admitted he orchestrated the joint letter that torpedoed the New York Post’s bombshell reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop in the weeks leading up to the November 2020 US Presidential election, at the direct request of Joe Biden’s campaign team.
That letter, published by Politico, asserted the leaked material bore unambiguous hallmarks of a Kremlin “information operation.” In all, 51 former senior intelligence officials endorsed the declaration on the basis their spying careers made them “deeply suspicious that the Russian government played a significant role in this case,” despite an avowed lack of evidence to support the charge.
This intervention was sufficient for Twitter to block all sharing of the NY Post’s exposés and ban the outlet’s official account. These measures were later undone due to intense backlash, but by then, the damage was done, and the articles thoroughly discredited. Joe Biden himself even cited the joint letter in a presidential debate with Donald Trump in order to deflect accusations of impropriety in his son’s Ukrainian dealings.

For well over 40 years I’ve read the print edition of the New York Times almost every morning, trying to keep myself informed on important world matters. Until recently, I read it very carefully, but in the last few years I’ve noticed such a tremendous decline in its quality that these days I usually just glance at most of the articles, saving myself close to an hour a day. Other knowledgeable people seem to have reached similar conclusions, even including former Times editors.
With our leading mainstream outlets having become so unreliable, many of us now draw our information from alternative sources, but unfortunately these are often just as bad if not worse. As a result wildly exaggerated or incorrect stories can easily propagate across the Internet, including outright hoaxes.

Central Bank Gold Buying Off To A Record-Breaking Start In 2023, Led By Singapore
It may not be the off the charts gold buying observed in the second half of 2022, but central bank Central bank gold buying made a blistering start to 2023 when according to the latest report from the World Gold Council, demand for the hard currency by the world’s money-printing authorities reached 228 tonnes in Q1, a 176% increase compared to the 82.7 tonnes one year ago. While lower than the figures seen in the previous two quarters this was nonetheless the strongest first quarter on record. According to the WGC, “this is all the more impressive considering it follows the record-breaking pace of demand last year.”
The rolling four-quarter total soared to a record 1,224 tonnes in Q1 following massive buying in recent quarters. As with the figures for both Q3 and Q4 2022, data for the current quarter contains a significant estimate for unreported activity.

Flaherty was removed at the shareholders’ meeting and was charged with “criminal trespass” after making statements against Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett for his support for Bill Gates’ organization and his association with convicted felon Jeffrey Epstein.
The National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC) is the primary proponent of a Berkshire Hathaway shareholder proposal that seeks to separate the responsibilities of the Chairman and CEO, according to NLPC’s press release.
Flaherty argued that Berkshire “would be less identified with Mr. Buffett’s personal political activities” if it had an independent chair, citing Warren Buffett’s support for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as an example.
